I understand all the buzz about Jamie Lynn Spears. I mean, she's a 16-year-old celebrity who is pregnant. Personally, I'm really proud of her for deciding to keep the baby. That takes guts. No matter who you are or who your parents/family members are. Here's what I don't understand: why are people calling her a whore? Why are people calling her a slut? What exactly is the problem?
Our society promotes sexuality and "everyone" is having premarital sex. In fact,we glorify it with TV shows like "Tila Tequila" (which is having a second season, evidently). Sex is everywhere. Sex can eventually lead to pregnancy - protected or not. So how can we live in a culture where everyone is having sex, and everyone is promoting sex, and then call a 16-year-old girl, who is a product of that culture, a slut/whore? Or for that matter, how can we even be surprised?

What exactly is the problem? Is it that she had premarital sex? Obviously, that would be ridiculous. I blog for a pop culture blog (www.popsofa.com), and new stars are getting pregnant/having a baby every day, almost literally. Jessica Alba and Nicole Richie aren't married - and to the best of my knowledge, no one has called either of them sluts.
Is it her age? Because she's a teenager? When, then, is the right age to have sex? 18, when you're out of high school? 20, with a college fling? 22, when you're out of college with a degree? 24? 26?
Please, someone: enlighten me.
